All about how surgeries carried out in public hospitals for the treatment of the morbidly obese increased by 50% to more than €1 million last year.

And how that figure has more than doubled since 2010.

The surgeries include gastric bypass and gastric banding procedures.

Pretty scary stuff.

Now you could possibly argue that the quality of surgeries are improving

hence the increase in numbers.

But you can’t deny how Ireland’s obesity rates are constantly on the rise year upon year.

Despite all the awareness and state campaigns that’s now out there.

The harsh reality is, either you make a conscious effort to look after your health, watching what you eat & making time to exercise.

Or you end up overweight.

The combination of our sedentary lifestyles and the HUGE amount of junk food available rate probably mostly to blame.

So if you don’t make the effort, your weight tends to suffer.
